Opera study at North Broward Preparatory School lays the foundation for musicians to discover their passions and succeed in opera and classical music careers. We offer instruction in Italian, French, and German diction and translation, Music Theory, Piano, and more. Our distinguished vocal faculty fosters artistic growth through personalized learning and performance in large-scale operas and chamber productions. These productions have included The Magic Flute, Le Nozze di Figaro, Cendrillon, Gianni Schicchi, Hansel and Gretel, and others. Through these experiences, our vocalists find their artistic voice and gain the tools for success for college programs in both opera and musical theater and beyond.
“The North Broward Arts Academy prepared me with a well-rounded training in the arts. It encouraged me to participate not only in the theater productions but the operas as well. My vocal training in classical voice allowed my voice to grow in unimaginable ways. Being exposed to different styles and vocal techniques really facilitated this process. It also allowed me to constantly push myself to greater limits as I practiced for the shows and classical voice competitions. The Arts Academy motivated me to pursue my passions and encouraged me to explore them all. The wonderful program and faculty-guided me every step of my high school years and college preparation. Without them, I would not be where I am today.”
- Juliana Castillo, freshman at NYU, Musical Theatre Major
Throughout my four years at North Broward, I was given countless performing opportunities that helped me become a well-rounded musician and performer. I was able to perform in operas such as Le Nozze di Figaro and Cendrillon, which sparked my passion for being an opera singer as well as give me an incredible experience in a fostered learning environment. While participating in several productions, I worked with world-class directors, collaborative pianists, and instrumentalists. Being able to work with amazing faculty who helped my musicianship, vocal technique, acting, and career goals truly shaped the musician I am today.
