Cindy began her tenure at NBPS in January of 2010 as Upper School Librarian, working in what was then the Montgomery Library. Over the course of that year, she worked with a team of administrators, designers and builders to reinvent our Upper School library and transform it into the Learning Commons we know today.
Her current work as Learning Commons Director continues to revolve around creating innovative and dynamic 21st century library curriculum and collections, working to ensure that NPBS students are sent off to colleges and universities with robust information literacy and reading skills.
Cindy earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Business with a minor in English Writing from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, and worked as an editor in Chicago for six years before earning a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Dominican University in River Forest, IL. She has worked as a librarian for over 20 years. Her love of words, as both writer and reader, has shaped her career path from the start.
Cindy served on the NBPS Board of Trustees from 2009-2012 and sat on the Florida Teens Read Committee for the Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME) from 2015-2017.
She is married to Stephen Von Oehsen, and they have three sons, one current NBPS student and two NBPS graduates.
