Kathleen has been the Lower School Principal since 2012 following two years as the Lower School Assistant Principal. Prior to serving as a lower school administrator, Kathleen was a fifth grade teacher and team leader at NBPS since 2001.
Kathleen holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Boston University's School of Education and a Master's Degree in Education in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Walden University. Kathleen's prior experiences include teaching for the Archdiocese of Miami, the Archdiocese of Chicago, The University School of NSU, and Broward County Public Schools.
Kathleen has spent several years developing a comprehensive understanding of building a Culture of Thinking, implementing thinking routines and thinking maps as a school wide practice, and aligning instruction to standards and assessments. Training through Harvard Graduate School of Education's Project Zero, The Principal's Training Center, and the International Visible Thinking Conference at FIU has enabled Kathleen to strongly lead the faculty and staff of the lower school in developing an exemplary educational program. Kathleen is also a founding member of ColLABorate South Florida, a professional learning community dedicated to developing strong teaching and learning practices within its member schools.
In 2015, Kathleen was elected to serve on the Board of Director's for the Florida Kindergarten Council, which accredits and serves independent schools throughout the state of Florida. Kathleen is honored to currently continue this role.
Kathleen in the proud parent of three North Broward Prep graduates; Kyle, Class of 2012, and Katelyn and Kelsey, Class of 2015. She and her husband of 24 years reside in Coral Springs.
