Ron has just completed his first year at NBPS. Ron had been an educator in Massachusetts for thirty-three years prior to his arrival at NBPS.
During his time in Massachusetts, Ron served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and principal. Ron’s last position was the principal at Dedham High School and he had been in that position for six years. Prior to that, Ron was the principal at Bourne High School, and worked at Duxbury High School for nine years serving as assistant principal, interim athletic director, and interim principal. Ron started his career as a teacher and coach at Winthrop High School and taught and became an administrator at Middleboro High School.
Ron grew up in Malden, Massachusetts and graduated from Malden High School. Ron received his Bachelor’s Degree in History / Education and a Master’s Degree in Education / Secondary Administration from Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts. Ron played football and baseball at Bridgewater State University and was inducted into the BSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990.
Ron played in a high school basketball game at the old Boston Garden in high school and in a college all-star game at Fenway Park. Ron was a Second Team All American and First Team All-New England selection in baseball during his senior year at BSU and All New England Football Conference in football during his junior and senior years at BSU.
Ron’s wife, Diane has been a flight attendant with American Airlines for 34 years. Ron enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and travelling. Diane and Ron have been visiting and vacationing in Boca Raton, Florida for the past thirty years. Diane and Ron have two daughters, Olivia and Veronica. Olivia graduated from American University in 2015 and Veronica graduated from Syracuse University in 2017. Olivia works for Back Roads and Veronica will be serving as a mathematics teacher at Vega Collegiate Academy in Aurora, Colorado for the 2018 – 2019 school year. Diane and Ron have been married for 30 years and currently have a home in Duxbury, Massachusetts and in Boca Raton, Florida. Both Olivia and Veronica graduated from Duxbury High School. The entire McCarthy family has enjoyed their transition to South Florida.
