Windermere Prep High School Students learned about Voter Registration

On Wednesday, students in grades 10-12 attended an engaging presentation about voter registration that was led by sophomore Julia High and the SGA team. Throughout the presentation, Julia provided a compelling message about the importance of students’ using their vote to change what is happening in the world. This assembly had all students engaged and should have left them feeling empowered because Julia spoke to the influence that all students have, regardless on the student’s country of origin. By the time the assembly was complete, students and adults alike felt ready to go vote (or register to vote). We learned that Florida is one of seven states that currently allows teenagers to pre-register to vote at the age of 16, so each student was encouraged to get registered today. The goal for the SGA is to have at least 100 students registered to vote after this assembly.

We would like to thank Julia High for her evident passion to lead others to make a difference in the future of the country and the world. ~ Dr. Leslie Williams, High School Director
