Alfie Creissen

Year 2 Teacher

I am an Early Years and Key Stage One Specialist. I studied Early Years Education at the University of Essex, United Kingdom, after which I was inspired to do a Post Graduate Certificate of Education through Nottingham University. I decided to pursue my career abroad and have since been working for Nord Anglia Education for 8 years at our schools in Shanghai and Warsaw, Poland. My decision to move to Guangzhou was based on the excellent reputation of the school and my love for China. I like how dynamic Guangzhou is and there is always something to do with new places to explore. I have a passion for teaching and making learning fun. I feel that children learn best when they are happy and enjoy what they are doing. I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Education through the University of Nottingham and look forward to implementing what I am learning into the classroom and the school. I have a particular interest in promoting continuity between the Early Years and Key Stage One and I believe this helps children to reach their full potential.

In my spare time, I enjoy socialising with friends and traveling to different and interesting cultures. I have recently started to bake bread but I am still striving towards the perfect loaf! Whenever possible I try and bring cooking to the classroom as I believe it’s a very valuable life skill and something I have found the majority of children to thoroughly enjoy.  I am looking forward to the new academic year.
