Hollie Slaughter

Assistant Head of Secondary & Teacher of Art

I was awarded a First Class Bachelor of Arts Degree in Footwear Design in 2007 and became an artist’s assistant working closely with other aspiring artists. It was during that time I knew I wanted to teach and I have done so ever since.

I have recently completed a Masters in Fine Art at the University of the Arts London in 2015, during which I exhibited my work in London and the surrounding areas. As a lifelong learner I knew I was ready for my next challenge and that led me to be Head of Art here in Guangzhou. I understand how important Art is to the development of research and thinking skills. To see a student realise an idea and make something tangible is the best feeling in the world.

My previous role in the UK was in a quintessentially British Boarding School where I lived and worked as an art teacher and resident tutor. I was able to experience the true camaraderie of a School House which has fuelled my passion to be the Head of Norman House here at BSG.
