Staff Profiles: Yvonne McKenna

Assistant Head of Secondary (Pastoral)

I achieved a degree in Chemistry and Pharmacology from the University of Liverpool before completing my Post Graduate Certificate in Education. I have 18 years teaching experience, 7 of which were spent in the UK teaching in 3 different schools in the Merseyside area. I worked for 4 years in Kuala Lumpur before moving to my last post in the Cayman Islands where I worked for 3 years. The Cayman Islands is a very small country and even though I enjoyed living and working there, I was looking forward to returning to Asia and to a big city.

I moved to Guangzhou with my husband who is the Head of MFL. I enjoy travel and while I worked in Kuala Lumpur, I was lucky enough to be able to travel extensively around Asia. During my time in Guangzhou I hope to be able to travel around China, seeing all the different areas and sampling the different cuisines of each region. My other hobby is watching my favourite football team, Everton.
