WORLD CHAMPION DEBATER – The Motion: “This house believes every child must learn a musical instrument”
This week we celebrated our first Global Classroom World Champion! Year 6’s Beatrice Villaflor beat off competition from all of the Nord Anglia schools around the world, demonstrating a good understanding of the topic, clear and effective communication and supportive arguments with evidence. The whole school celebrated this excellent achievement during our Friday Assembly. Please take the time to read her persuasive arguments, attached.
Our school also received strong commendations in a number of other Global Classroom competitions. Congratulations to:
Tina Ma (Y5) - Open Mic Advanced Solo Instrumental; Winner
Skylar Zhu (Y7) – Open Mic Advanced Solo Instrumental; Highly Commended
Satva Upadhyay (Y5) & Janice Ooi (Y6) – Debating League Champion
NAIS PTA GALA DINNER
A huge thank you to the PTA for organising another amazing event. 250 parents came together to celebrate our first year and to raise an incredible amount of money for our PTA and school charities. Chairman, Heath Zarin, and the Organising Committee did us all proud by organising an evening that will be hard to beat – but we look forward to trying again next year! We will be sharing photos very soon.

YOUNG ENTERPRISE CHALLENGE – Click for photos
The Year 6s and 7s embraced their inner entrepreneurs this week, developing a business model to design, produce, market and sell a healthy snack to their school classmates. The school was buzzing all week as the House teams went into overdrive to market their wares, including chocolate-covered bananas and strawberries, maple lollies, berry and kiwi frozen snacks. I’ve just heard from Mrs Reid that the teams raised over HK$7,000 as well as learning a huge amount about product development, marketing and sales!
HOUSE CHARITY FOOD DRIVE – CAERNARFON – Click here for photos
Our families made us proud again this week supporting Caernarfon’s Food Drive for their local charity Feeding Hong Kong. The House targeted 10 boxes of dried food products, but this morning the Year 7s packed up 22 boxes, all of which will be delivered to families in need across Hong Kong.
SUMMER READING FOR YOUR CHILD – From our Librarian, Miss Richardson
As the summer holidays approach, Miss Richardson has put together some great advice and resources for your child to encourage more reading over the summer holidays. Perfect for those lazy days or long flights and car journeys! See attached.
YEAR 6 – POETRY SLAM! Click here for photos
Our Year 6s showed their spirit and creativity, writing and performing poems in our Drama Room in front of their classmates and our tough panel of Mr Cooklin, Mr Bishop and Mr Robinson.
PARENT HANDBOOK – All the information you’ll need for next year!
We’re working hard to finalise all the information you’ll need for next term and we’ll be sharing this with you before the end of term.
REMINDER: ECAs are finished for this year.
Details of the new ECA calendar will be shared in the Parent Handbook, and the sign-up link will be released at the beginning of next term.
Have a lovely weekend with your children, and don’t forget to encourage your children to pack wisely for Camp!
