K. Simpson

IBDP Co-ordinator & History Teacher

Karen has a BA (Hons) in Social and Economic History from Manchester Metropolitan University, as well a PGCE from Liverpool.  She also has a TEFL certificate.

In 1999, after spending four years teaching in the UK, I embarked on an international career that has taken me across a number of continents.  I have been fortunate enough to teach both the International Baccalaureate, DP for 12 years, as well as the British National Curriculum to KS5.  I very much enjoy challenging my students to be independent, open-minded and questioning in their approach to learning.  In addition to my teaching, I have had many wonderful opportunities to be part of the development and leadership of schools through the senior management positions I have undertaken.

Outside of school, I enjoy taking part in a number of sports such as cycling, padel and running; this year I took part in the Seville half marathon and the five 10km series.  I am also an avid Liverpool football fan, and enjoy travelling and experiencing new cultures.  Having visited Hong Kong before, I am excited by the prospect of working here.
