The Village High School Approach
The Village High School students prepare for college and their career interests. We encourage them to be bold, articulate arguments, and seek elegant solutions. As an important part of their education, they also explore how to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Village Vikings are risk-takers, in-depth knowledge-acquirers, and local actors on a global stage. Perpetually curious, they embrace uncertainty. They are not fond of the status quo, and they seek a deeper understanding of what shapes our lives. They see things differently.
They are artists, collaborators, critical thinkers, creative problem-solvers, and where others may see disorder, they see evolution. Their life-long love of learning moves the whole world forward.
The Village High School Curriculum
Village High School students study the complete American curriculum, including the full set of sciences, humanities, creative subjects, and languages as well as service opportunities in Houston. In the 9th and 10th grades, all students study subjects to prepare them for a diverse selection of academic opportunities. To prepare for their college of choice, students can also take Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
In the 11th and 12th grades, students can decide on a speciality diploma that best fits their goals, including studying our highly successful International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) or pursuing other diploma options—Pre-Medical Science, Entrepreneurship, or a Village diploma with their own strategic mix of courses. All options provide a rigorous academic background and offer a range of university and career pathways to our graduates.
