Performing Arts Set Design Project
After a crash course on scenic design and aesthetics and their importance in all manifestations of performance, Grade 8 students designed their own set for the musical their class is preparing: Cabaret and The Sound of Music.
Students followed guidelines used by professional scenic designers in their preliminary stages of design to create what is called a Model Box to illustrate a particular scene of their choice from their musical. One major challenge of this task was the limited materials students had a their disposal due to the confinement situation.
