How can parents help their children build a meaningful life? In this interactive session, Clara Benacerraf, Head Counsellor at ICS Madrid, helps parents gain insight on how to raise children who grow up with a belief in themselves from an early age, who take responsibility for their own thoughts and feelings, and who recognise and embrace the freedom that comes with it. Parents will learn how to foster in their children what Viktor Frankl called self-transcendence, the ability to reach beyond themselves, whether it is looking for answers, solutions or projects, and live a life that is meaningful and purposeful.
Clara Benacerraf studied Philosophy and Educational Psychology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, as well as a MA Degree in Special Education and Counselling at the University of Haifa. She is currently completing her Doctorate in Logotherapy. She joined ICS in 2001, and holds the position of Head Counsellor and Designated Safeguarding Lead. Her counselling practice is strongly influenced by the idea that we are not merely the result of our genetics and environment, but the creators of our own destiny. She believes that building self-worth in children and teenagers, and helping them feel they can handle what comes their way, is something empowering.
