At our monthly Parent Coffee Afternoon, we had Mr. Hickman speak about how assessment in Primary is integral to quality teaching and improving outcomes.
Primary Assessment takes many forms at NAIS Manila: there is our precise and immediate verbal feedback given during lessons; in-depth marking of books; end of unit tests; half termly summative assessments and project based inquiries for the children to demonstrate and refine their skills.
We also make use of the PASS and CAT4 test to gain a fuller picture of children as learners.
We use these and other methods to better plan lessons that cater for individual needs and support children's wellbeing.
Students and parents are as much a part of our assessment process as the teachers are. Students regularly self-assess their work and parents receive three detailed reports over the course of the year.
We also have our Primary 3-Way Conference that allow students to showcase their work and generate targets with both their parents and teacher.
Our vigorous marking, assessment and reporting ensure we diligently track progress, secure strong academic results and celebrate success.
