Parents in Action: Partnering in the International Primary Curriculum Learning Experience

At Nord Anglia International School Manila, we believe that learning works best when school and home move forward together. As we prepare for the introduction of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), our Coffee and Curriculum sessions have become an important space where parents are not just informed but actively involved in the learning journey.

These gatherings are more than casual conversations over coffee. They are opportunities for connection, clarity, and collaboration, bringing parents into the heart of what and how their children are learning.

Understanding the IPC Together

The IPC is designed to nurture curiosity, global awareness, and deep understanding. Through our Coffee and Curriculum sessions, parents gain insight into how the IPC supports children academically, socially, and emotionally. These conversations help families see how learning in the classroom connects to real life and how skills developed through the IPC prepare students for the future. By opening up discussions around curriculum goals, teaching approaches, and assessment, we ensure parents feel confident and informed as this important programme becomes part of our primary experience.

Building a Community of Partnership

Coffee and Curriculum sessions also play a key role in strengthening our parent community. Parents connect with one another, exchange experiences, and build relationships that extend beyond the classroom. This sense of partnership helps create a supportive environment where students feel encouraged both at school and at home. As the IPC becomes part of daily learning, this strong partnership ensures children experience consistency, encouragement, and shared values across their learning spaces.

“Why is parent partnership such an important part of the International Primary Curriculum and a child’s learning journey?”

“The International Primary Curriculum places parent partnership at its heart. When families understand how learning fits together and share in key moments along the way, children feel supported, confident, and proud of their learning."– shared by Sara Berenguer, Head of Primary.

Our Parents in Action approach reflects our belief that education is a shared journey. By inviting parents into meaningful conversations about learning, we create a community that is informed, engaged, and aligned. As we continue our IPC journey, Coffee and Curriculum sessions will remain a key part of how we work together, supporting our students, strengthening partnerships, and building a learning community where everyone plays a role.
