Pavel's message to our current students:

"Hello everyone!
My name is Pavel, and I was an alumnus of the 2021 class. Upon graduating, I went to KU Leuven in Belgium, where I am currently studying in my first bachelor year in Engineering Technology.

For my A-Levels, I chose Russian, English Literature, Maths and Physics, which may seem like a lot to handle at first, but once you plan your revision and find a rhythm for it, it becomes a lot more manageable.

I left ISM with countless precious memories, the most notable being the common room shenanigans, where all of the Sixth Form could bond and have fun without all of the rules that apply outside of the common room - this is definitely something to look forward to. Another highlight for me was the well organised and majestic graduation ceremony. It always amazes me how even during the hard times of the pandemic, the school managed to create something so special. It was a flashback of all the times that passed and a reminder that there are good ones to come.

ISM positively shaped me in many ways. I grew academically and mentally stronger with the help of all the fantastic staff working in our school. I also grew socially and experienced authentic Russian international culture. The studying and social environments on the campus are excellent as everyone motivates and helps one another to be a better version of themselves.

I know Mr. Henderson isn't a fan of using quotes, but I'll end on one. "At the end of the day, teachers open the doors, but you must enter by yourself." I hope you all achieve excellence in your studies, and if you are looking to study in Belgium, you can always get in touch!"

James's message to our current students:

"Hi everyone!

My name is James, and I attended ISM for five years, moving back home to Scotland at the end of Year 11. I am currently studying at the University of Edinburgh.

I have so many happy memories of my time at ISM, but what stands out the most are the school shows. So much fun, very educational, but more than anything, I loved the sense of camaraderie they built among everyone involved. All your months of long, gruelling work pays off after much – and sometimes literally – blood, sweat and tears.

ISM helped me grow positively into the person I am today. I feel like I'm much more aware of the world and its issues, as well as much more motivated to do better as a person because of ISM. I would not be on the course I am if it wasn't for ISM. I would love for people to see how dedicated and caring the staff is, the opportunities present because of them, and how far you can go with their help.

Good luck with your studies, take breaks and listen to your teachers - they'd love to tell you all the answers to your exams just as much as you'd love to know them, so ask them all the possible questions you may have, and go over those past papers - examiners are lazy!

If anyone wants to learn more about life in Bonnie Scotland or is applying for university here, I would be more than happy to help. Please contact the school, and we can get in touch!"
