Year 10 are currently learning about ‘Newtonian Physics’ as part of their iGCSE. We set them a challenge to apply their knowledge of drag to design a parachute (using only a carrier bag, plastic cup and one strip of cotton) which could safely land an egg from the third storey in the slowest possible time! They had fun doing this, considering how surface area and stability would affect the motion of the parachute. We only had one ‘egg-ccident’!
