Year 4 STEAM Trip to Jet Aviation

On Tuesday 22nd February, 17 lucky members of Year 4 travelled to Jet Aviation at Seletar Airport to learn more about aeroplanes and how they are designed.

Last term, the whole of Year 4 were challenged by MIT to explore the environmental issues that have been created by the ever increasing number of aeroplanes in our skies. This included researching about the history of aeroplanes and exploring new aeroplane designs. The reward for the winning designs, as judged by Mr. Short and Year 4 parent Gary Moran, was a trip to visit Jet Aviation. This was kindly facilitated by Mr. Moran, who works in the aviation industry.

The children were fascinated to see so many different aeroplanes and to experience life in an airport hangar. They enjoyed interviewing different members of staff and asked many thoughtful questions. STEAM is beginning to take off at DCIS!
