IB/IGCSE Music Performance Showcase

On Tuesday and Wednesday evening this week we were treated to two fine evenings of musical entertainment by our Year 11 and Year 13 Music students. Both evenings featured a wide range of music played to an extremely high standard as the students recorded their pieces for submission as part of their music coursework.
Tuesday featured music from Jimi Hendrix to Bach, jazz guitar, piano, oboe, flute, violin and voice. Wednesday had a similar eclectic mix of pieces including voice, piano, electric guitar and violin, with music from Japan to Vietnam.
My congratulations go to the students and their teachers in the music department for the high level of performance.
University Information Evenings

We kick-started the class of 2018 BIS University Guidance programme by running two very well attended University Information Evenings this week. With numerous options to choose from, it is more important than ever for prospective students to make informed decisions about higher education, and so parents and students from Year 10 upwards were encouraged to attend these events.
The evenings focused on university admissions around the world first with a general overview, followed by a focus on the UK on Monday evening and the US on Thursday. Hopefully the message students took home with them is that teachers, counsellors and parents will be working together to best support them through the entire research, application and admissions process.
The University Guidance area of our website allows parents to view the various presentations.
BIS HCMC Community Service Shortlisted for Award

At the end of last term we reported that our Community Service initiatives had been shortlisted for the British International Schools Award, primarily for our work with Thien Phuoc Foster Home for Disabled Children with whom we have partnered with since 2007. At the awards evening in London recently the Community Service award went to the British School Kathmandu in recognition of their incredible work following the earthquake in that region. We are honoured to have been shortlisted, and delighted that with the support of our PTG and parents, we have been able to do so much for Thien Phuoc’s staff and residents over the years.
An Phu Secondary PTG Donations – 2015/2016

Community Service is an integral part of a student’s life at the British International School HCMC. With many community projects and extra curricular activities on offer, the school’s parent and student body are huge supporters of our community service partners.
The BIS Christmas BISzaar is the main fundraiser of the year and a way for the school community to support all of the BIS HCMC community partners. Towards the end of the last academic year the community department received a very generous donation from the Secondary Parent Teacher Group. We are delighted to share with you an overview of how the money raised was spent.
Spring Concert Ticket Sales

Tickets for our whole school music concert ‘Whatever the Weather - An Atmospheric Journey’ will be available from Monday 13th February for those parents whose children are performing in the concert. Parents of students who are not performing will be able to buy tickets from Monday 20th February. Having music performers from the Secondary and two Primary campuses combine at the Ben Thanh Theatre for a music concert is always spectacular and I am sure this concert will continue the trend.
BIS HCMC Parent Satisfaction Survey 2017

We were very pleased to launch the Parent Satisfaction Survey for 2017 earlier this week. As a school we rely on parent feedback to better understand how we are performing in key areas, so that we can continue to improve our school and provide the best possible educational experience for your child.
Thank you to those parents who have already completed this survey. To-date we have had an impressive response rate. We are very keen to receive feedback from all our parents. The online survey will only take fifteen minutes and is available in 18 languages. Your answers will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
We look forward to your participation.
