To prepare them for Elementary, we introduce our preschool students to more structured routines and more challenging subject matter, designed to make them think creatively.

A special way to engage our students and make every week exciting is to ask them to share about their family, interests, and hobbies with the class. This simple but effective activity helps every student recognize their peers as equals and encourages them to embrace one another’s differences.

The Literacy Block inspires reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking. Our teachers base their workshops on individual students’ learning needs, supporting their progression through individualized instruction and activities with both small groups and the whole class.

Our 7-11-year-olds’ school days become more academically intensive, nurturing their curiousity with more challenging ideas.

Music classes

Some children truly find their “voice” when they pick up an instrument for the first time. Through our collaboration with The Juilliard School, every student learns to play the violin throughout Elementary, leading to entry into our band.

Reading and writing workshop

Students connect to the world through literacy and books through our method based on the Reading and Writing project, developed by Columbia University. Teachers set up small groups in which children discuss characters and stories, then spend one-on-one time to focus on personal literacy needs and aspirations.

Elementary students take two MAP standardized tests a year, measuring their progress and comparing their results with international and district grade norms.

In preparation for high school and beyond, we challenge our older students with eye-opening lessons and intensive study of a wide range of subjects, ensuring they have all the tools they need to succeed when they leave school. This is where they form the character that’ll make them a success.

Leadership skills and global issues

Students participate in extracurricular activities like Model UN, to develop their leadership and communication skills, and learn how they can draw on their own unique skills to play a role in global situations. They can put this knowledge to action with our residential trips to places like Tanzania, and our work with UNICEF.

Students collaborate with their peers from the worldwide community of Nord Anglia’s dozens of other international schools. Together they set their minds to such activities as MIT competitions and interschool challenges.

San Roberto has a full English immersion experience in which students utilize and expand their English skills throughout the school day. We aim to give students a love of reading, and we achieve this through our Balanced Literacy program. With books at their fingertips, students become passionate about reading and writing as they connect to the world around them.

Students engage in projects combining STEAM, Wellbeing, and Humanities to form an integrated learning experience and a deeper understanding of the curriculum . They make proposals to solve real-world problems and answer the big questions both individually and in groups. These activities are key to developing our elder students’ critical thinking, creativity, and communication.
