A variety of food was used to decorate their cakes from different coloured icing and jelly to represent the sea and landscape, biscuits in the shape of fish and even broccoli was used to represent the trees.
There were 6 cakes that reached the final of the competition. The criteria was based on how original and informative the cakes were, as well as the cake that had the X-Factor (unique element that made it different to all the other cakes). Our judges, Ms Burgess and Ms Richards, found it very difficult to select the top 3 cakes. After much discussion and deliberation, the top 3 were chosen. In third place, were Jojo Guo, Neil Verdia, Peter Chong and JuSung Park (9B). In second place, were Naomi Olivotti and Jimin Chung (9B). In first place, were Sean Kiew, Miguel Luis Alvarez and Jim Lin (9A).
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all the students who took the time and effort to make and model their Coastal Cakes. The Geography department was very impressed with the results!
