Amy Stather

Primary Teacher - Amy Stather

Year 6 Teacher

I qualified as a teacher from the University of Hull, Scarborough Campus, in 2007 after which I worked as supply in 2 schools for a year.  In 2008 I started work at Braeburn Community Junior School as an NQT. For the first two years at Braeburn I taught a Year 5 class then a Year 5/6 mixed class. During this time I was also made Staff Governor and PE subject leader. In my third year at Braeburn I was placed in a Year 3 class, a year group I enjoy immensely, and have stayed with for the last four years. In 2012 I was made Educational Visits Coordinator and in 2013 I started the NPQML course.

I loved working at Braeburn but felt the time was right for a move. To pull me away from a school I was comfortable in and from children I adored, I knew my new school would have to be full of excitement and new challenges. BSG certainly is that school. In 2014 I moved to Guangzhou to begin my career at BSG and started working in Year 3, teaching a delightful class. In 2015 I was appointed Year 3 Lead Teacher, a role I was honored to have been given. I am having a wonderful time here, working with a dedicated staff and having the privilege to teach the most amazing pupils. I am looking forward to the year ahead and a long career at BSG.

I am an easy going person who enjoys laughing and bringing smiles to people’s faces - I have a good sense of humour. I enjoy swimming and was part of a swimming club for almost 25 years. When I am not at work, I love to watch crime television series such as NCIS and CSI, or old school shows like Columbo and Cagney and Lacey. I think if I wasn’t a teacher I would have become a police officer. Recently I became the very proud Auntie to my gorgeous niece, Thea, who I will miss terribly, but can’t wait to teach her lots of Chinese phrases that her mum (my sister) will not understand.
