The Young Journalists Club is made up of students from Years 5 and 6. Our aim is to report on events and points of interest within the school community.

Year 5 Play in a Week

Play in a week is when a whole year group do a performance to Y1,2,3,4,5,6 and the parents. One of the music teachers will be planning, getting ready and deciding on the theme the play. You also won’t be doing any lessons beside PE and Chinese [LOTE] so that you can practice. You also need to wear costumes and make props for the play. The hardest part is that you can only learn it in one week. For this play there are 7 scenes and 5 songs. One of the songs is a solo by Eujin.

Here are the scenes from the Year 5 Play in a Week:

All the scenes for our (Y5) play in a week:

Scene 1 takes place at modern time. The main characters Fred and Jill are introduced. They are a influencer. One day Jill’s grandfather and mother’s museum was about to get destroyed so they get the help from Alexa and time travel to save the museum.

Scene2 takes place at a Victorian school and see how they learnt but the students were treated horribly.

Scene 3 is the Egyptians.

Scene 4 is about the Viking meeting where it was hilarious comedy!

Scene 5 is about Queen Elizabeth I and Sir Walter trying to ask why Queen Elizabeth I is always single! It’s because of her mother.

Scene 6 takes place at World War 1 where soldiers are in the hospital. At this time, it was too sad that Jill and Fred didn’t save this!

Scene 7 is about Fred and Jill going back to modern time. The museum is very crowded because of Jill and Fred’s hard work.

The scenes are varied because you want different parts of the story. In scene three, there is an Egyptian scene and it is quite gruesome because they mention preparing the body for the afterlife. There is killing and the procedure of taking out organs is described in detail so that the audience knows how it happens.

We enjoyed performing in the play and we realised that all the parts were equally important no matter how small or big. Everyone in the play contributes to the success of the production as a whole.
