Alvin received two bachelor's Degrees from the University of Kentucky in Music Education and Music Performance in the specialty of percussion. He is currently working on his Master's in Culture, Language, and Education at Western Illinois University. He has travelled the world, playing in some of the most prestigious concert halls, like Carnegie Hall and The Royal Concertgebouw.
Alvin has been teaching in China for over five years. Education has been a huge foundation in his life, and he decided in 2018 to start working as a teacher and child development in China. Through the years, he have taught students ages 2 – 11 years of age, in all subject areas including Music, English, Science, Maths and Social Studies. These experiences have truly made him into the teacher he is today and have been a rewarding experience. He joined BSB Shunyi in August 2022 and has focused on the quality of teaching and learning and overall child development.
Alvin is a very passionate and caring person who loves making people smile. Nothing makes him happier than cheering people up and keeping them focused on their goals. He loves to do crafts and hands-on projects. He has been an avid crocheter and loves to cook. He loves animals! He has over five dogs and has worked at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, IL, raising seahorses and taking care of many delightful saltwater and freshwater creatures.
