Stephanie Hacon

Reception Teacher
Stephanie-Hacon

BA, PGCE

Stephanie received her BA in Mandarin and History of Art/Archaeology from SOAS, University of London and a PGCEi from Nottingham University, UK. In 2017 with the imminent arrival of her son, Sebastian, she began delving into books about raising and communicating with children. What she learnt soon drove her to leave her former career in the Art world and dive into the world of Education. Stephanie has seven years’ experience teaching Early Years students at international schools in Beijing. She joined the British School of Beijing Early Years team in 2021.

As an educator, Stephanie sees that it is her role to demonstrate that learning is a two-way road. The children are as much her guide as she is theirs. Equally, she is a strong believer that a sense of humour is a key ingredient to building relationships within the classroom. Her goal is to foster trust, encourage independent thinking, and to accompany the children along their learning journeys.

Stephanie moved directly to Beijing after graduating from university, almost thirteen years ago! She met her husband whilst on her year abroad in Beijing studying at the Beijing Normal University. They have two sons, Sebastian and Arthur. Sebastian is currently in Year 3 and Arthur will be joining Teddies in Early Years next academic year. They enjoy living in Shunyi and taking advantage of its location. Its proximity to the mountains and nature make it a wonderful area for exploring. As a family, they are partial to trying new foods as well as listening to music from all over the world.
