Nord Anglia students to connect at annual Summit to develop leadership skills to apply in designing creative solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals
Guangzhou, 20 June 2025 — The British School of Guangzhou, part of the prestigious Nord Anglia Education family, is proud to announce that our Year 11 students, Sally, Yuka, Kate and Sharif have been selected to attend this year’s 2025 Nord Anglia Student Summit in Houston, Texas, a transformative leadership event focused on global citizenship, sustainability, and student-led innovation.
Through Nord Anglia Education’s collaboration with UNICEF, this annual summit brings together over 160 students from 54 Nord Anglia schools worldwide, offering a unique opportunity for young leaders in Years 10–12 to collaborate on real-world challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (SDGs).
Hosted once again by The Village School and the British International School of Houston, the event runs from 21 to 28 June and is themed around LEADERSHIP.
A Global Platform for Student Voice and Impact
At the Summit, students will:
“We’re excited to host 160+ student leaders from around the world in Houston this year,” Dr Leslie Williams, Group Head of Social Impact and EDIB at Nord Anglia, said. “I’m looking forward to seeing how they’ll develop their leadership and youth advocacy skills in order to create a lasting impact on their local communities based on the SDGs and Child Rights.”
Tim Richardson, Principal of BSG, said: “Understanding the significance of and applying the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an important part of teaching and learning at BSG. We have worked hard to incorporate relevant SDGs into every unit of work, making connections between the SDGs and our understanding of the world. SDGs also provide the key framework for our PSHE curriculum, informing lesson planning and class discussions across the school.
As part of our outstanding social impact programme, BSG staff and students regularly and consistently take action to address SDG priorities, including work towards ‘no poverty’ through charitable donations, ‘zero hunger’ through weekly food donations, ‘quality education’ accessible to all by supporting local schools for children with additional and/or different needs and ‘good health’ by supporting families of children requiring life changing operations”.
The NAE Student Summit is not the only way students get engaged with the SDGs and social impact efforts at Nord Anglia schools. Through the Social Impact Distinctions, schools work toward three levels of accreditation (bronze, silver, and gold) showcasing how they have embedded children’s rights and the SDGs. Each year, students can also receive funding from the Social Impact Grants to expand and enhance their community activities addressing the goals.
