The British School of Guangzhou warmly thanks the many parents and students who attended the recent GCSE and A Level Options Evening. The well-attended event provided an excellent opportunity for families to explore the curriculum pathways available to students and to discuss options that best support each learner’s academic and personal development.

Attendees spoke with student leaders, heads of department, senior leaders, and a student panel, gaining clear insights into subject content, assessment expectations, and how different pathways align with future goals. The student panel offered valuable, first-hand perspectives on study habits, subject choices, and balancing commitments, while heads of department outlined course structures and progression opportunities.

The evening also introduced the BSG Award, highlighting how the award supports student development and progression by helping students create a portfolio of leadership experience that complements their academic profile. In addition, staff presented the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) available in the Sixth Form, explaining how the EPQ strengthens university transitions and broadens both academic inquiry and social development.

Leaders shared plans for enhanced support in the coming year aimed at strengthening university preparation and guidance. These initiatives will include targeted advice on course selection, strengthened pastoral and academic mentoring, and expanded resources to help students build competitive university applications.

The school is grateful for the constructive conversations and collaborative atmosphere of the evening. Families are encouraged to continue engaging with subject teachers and pastoral staff as students make their decisions and prepare for the next stage of their learning journey.
