ADMISSIONS ARE OPEN FOR THE 2024-2025 ACADEMIC YEAR
All children have problems at times in their lives and as parents, we want to help and support to the best of our abilities, starting with really listening.
Being an active listener mean parents don't need to talk much, but enough to show that they are being patient, present and caring towards what their children have to say.
Even when children feel uncomfortable to share, parents can still recognise their issues with nonverbal signals such as avoiding their daily interests, mood swings, sadness or staying in their own rooms.
By giving out a message that, "When you’re ready to talk, I’m here.", parents show children that they respect both their emotional world and necessary space that they need. Furthermore, showing an ability to listen, enables children to build trust and be ready to open up discuss any further problems they may be facing.
The second topic "Wearing Your Listening and Supportive Hat" within the Positive Parenting for Success workshop series explored a range of concerns that children have and how to encourage your child to talk openly about them.
At the event, parents also looked at how to listen effectively to their child and help them find solutions to their worries, concerns and problems under the guidance of Ms Khuyen Tran, (Primary Assistant Headteacher) and Mr Luke Curran, (Head of Safeguarding, Welfare & Guidance).
