Weekly Highlights 06/01/2023 - Weekly Highlights 06 01 2023

Mr. Simon Higham, Principal

Dear Parents

Welcome back to school for the first Weekly Highlights of not only a new term but a brand new year. I would like to personally wish you all the very best for a successful, prosperous and peaceful 2023 and look forward to sharing our future successes and developments with you and across our BVIS community.

Additionally, I would like to welcome all of our new students whose first day of school was this week and to their parents who are now fully part of our extended BVIS family.

Weekly Highlights 06/01/2023 - Weekly Highlights 06 01 2023

Please ensure that you take time to regularly read through these Weekly Highlights that are sent to your email inbox every Friday, in order to find out about the news from our school and learn about the successes of both individual and collective achievements.

Next week, there will be updates from myself, Ms Mary McAloon (Primary Headteacher) and Mr Toby Bate (Secondary Headteacher). Our profiles can be found here.

Always Improving

Over the holiday period, our BVIS staff have been extremely busy ensuring that the campus is again developed further for our students’ benefit.

Please can you take quality pictures of these updates and then add.

We have now completed our phased remodel of all secondary classrooms, allowing greater natural light to enter the learning spaces which is a proven factor to enhance learning whilst also improving general openness and transparency.

The second phase of the Primary Learning Together Rooms (LTRs) has begun, developing not only the look of these spaces but also how they are used for learning.

In partnership with our Secondary Student Council, we have refurbished the Secondary common area that was previously called the BreezeWay. This social study area is now fully air conditioned with a new furniture design and a new name coming soon!

We now have permanent shading from both Gates B and C from the street entrance to the school building. This will help to shade when sunny and keep us dry during the wet months.

Weekly Highlights 06/01/2023 - Weekly Highlights 06 01 2023

11 new Elkay water fountains have been installed across the school – both inside and outside the building. These give us chilled and filtered quality water provision for all of our students and staff.

Weekly Highlights 06/01/2023 - Weekly Highlights 06 01 2023

These continued improvements form part of a longer-term plan to ensure that every BVIS student has the opportunity to learn alongside the very best teachers, who have the very best educational resources possible.

Thank you for your support of these valuable learning experiences and next week, we look forward to hearing about their adventures and the new friendships that have been made.

Primary residential trips take place later this term in February for Years 4 and 5 and in March for Year 6 - the excitement is growing already!

Wishing you all, a very pleasant weekend ahead.
