Once again it looks like we might have problems tomorrow (Saturday 1 November) with our sports events due to pollution. If the AQI is above 250 at 6 am, then outdoor tournaments are cancelled – this is ISAC policy. If the AQI is above 250 at the start of a match, that match will not take place – again this is ISAC policy.
The ISAC policy actually states that if the AQI moves to 276 or above, the tournament will be ended.
We will post on the school blog's Sport page (please click here) the definitive decisions during the morning, but the following is what will happen:
U13 Boys & Girls Football @WAB – if the AQI is above 250 at 6 am, this tournament is cancelled
U12 Girls Football @ WAB – if the AQI is above 250 at 6 am, this tournament is cancelled
U14 Girls Football @BSB – this tournament will go ahead whatever the pollution (we will play in the Sports Dome if above 250)
U11 Football X6 BSB teams @DCB – if the AQI is above 250, this tournament is cancelled. As we have previously explained, we follow the ISAC policy for tournaments and use the limit of 250. If parents do not wish their children to play if the AQI is above 200 (our normal in-school limit here at BSB) please let Mrs North know immediately – email@example.com
These are very difficult decisions for us as we know now much the tournaments mean to the students. I do apologise if we cannot always communicate decisions early or in the usual way we would expect, but we are often in the hands of other schools, who sometimes do not let us know, and we try to leave it until we can be sure to avoid cancelling and then discovering the AQI improves.
With best wishes
Director of Sports and PE
