It has been a week since the Grease opening night and in that time I have had a chance to reflect on what a positive experience it has been - not to mention a chance to sit back and relax.
The students are still talking about it - when can we do it again, Miss? What are we doing next year? Can we do another one at the end of the year?
For me the best part has been seeing the pride these children have in the work that they did. The commitment was massive for everyone involved and there were times we all struggled with it but now they can see it was worthwhile. The friendships they made and the trust that they created will last a long time in the school.
Drama has the potential to be such a powerful force for good within a school, uniting people, providing challenges, developing creative thinking and communication skills, the list is endless, and it was wonderful to be a part of something that massive. It was a huge project that was enormous fun for the staff and students involved; it brought the community in to our school and gave us the opportunity to entertain.
I would like to thank you all again for your support and for coming to watch, we really do appreciate it. All I need to do now is choose a play for next year.
