German Primary Teachers for 2014/2014

  • Period: Full Time
  • Contract: 2 Years

Responsibilities and Duties




  • To plan, prepare and deliver schemes of work in accordance with the academic programs set out by the curriculum and the school,
  • To maintain a working knowledge of the Thuringia Curriculum and German Primary standards,
  • To maintain records of pupils’ progress including,
  • To write reports to parents as and when required and conduct termly interviews with parents to discuss and explain their child’s performance and progress in school,
  • To provide and maintain an attractive and stimulating environment in which to foster effective teaching and learning in line with the school’s detailed display policy,
  • To monitor progress and effectiveness of class work and to evaluate and modify as necessary,
  • To be part of a curriculum subject working party that ensures consistency across year groups.



  • To be aware of the physical and emotional well-being of pupils and the need to respond to particular situations,
  • Comply and assist the School in the implementation of any rules and regulations which the school may from time to time issue to ensure the efficient operation of the school and the welfare and interests of its students and employees,
  • To liaise with other agencies e.g. school nurse,  SEN Co, educational psychologist as required.

Administration and organization


  • To understand and implement:
  • Regulations and correct procedures
  • Emergency and evacuation procedures
  • Health and Safety policies
  • Child Protection policy
  • All curriculum polices
  • Any other organizational policies or agreed procedures
  • To conduct standardized or other tests when required and document pupils performance
  • To attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and also on other occasions when required e.g. team planning meetings, support the decisions taken at those meetings, and respect the confidentiality of the matters discussed
  • To attend and participate in training days,
  • To supervise playtimes, lunchtimes and ASAs when required,
  • To supervise after school matches or concerts when required,
  • To supervise pupils in assemblies when required and lead a class assembly for parents,
  • To supervise and lead:
  • Teaching Assistants
  • Students
  • Voluntary Helpers
  • To liaise with colleagues enabling satisfactory transfers of children within school and to and from others,
  • Endeavour to have and to foster good harmonious working relations with all staff, pupils and parents of The British School of Beijing,
  • Fulfill the working hours stated in the Employee contract. Minimum working hours for full time teachers shall be Monday to Thursday from 8.15am till 4.30pm and 3.30pm on a Friday as long as all children in school’s care is accounted for,
  • To undertake any other reasonable requests by the Head or other line manager.

Requirement Profile

  • 1. and 2. Staatsexamen für Lehramt (an der Grundschule) or any equivalent;
  • more than 2 years of work experience;
  • main taught subjects are Deutsch, Mathematik, HSU, Kunst
  • good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
  • ability to work in a team
