Just before the mid-term break, Year 5 treated the Primary school to an exhibition all about Ancient Civilisations. The children started the day by taking down all the artefacts, posters and materials that they had made in class or at home. The MPR was then transformed into an information zone with exotic species, clothing and even shelters all available on show. The children worked incredibly hard until 9:15am putting up and displaying their work. The teamwork was incredible to see, as was the positive feeling in the room, with children working excitedly with each other in anticipation of the day.
The children then went to the theatre to watch the 5DS and 4GK classes kick start our exhibition with an assembly. The children did a great job and were very entertaining throughout. I think it is fair to say they taught the audience quite a bit in the process as well.
Once the assembly had finished, the children rushed back into the MPR to get ready for the opening of the exhibition. From 10am until 2pm the children were on hand to explain, teach and show off their knowledge on the Ancient Civilisations. They were engaged and interested and did a super job passing on their knowledge to all the adults and children who came in for a visit.
It was an amazing success and the children did themselves proud. What a wonderful way to finish up a topic and a term.
