The focus of today was to interact with local people and experience different cultures and a different way of life.
Students visited the village, 埠阳庄村 (BuYangZhuangCun) for a cultural exchange. Each group of students prepared and ate a meal with a local family. After lunch, students talked with their host about their family and daily life.
Next stop was a local primary school. BSB students received a very warm welcome from staff and students at XieMaTing Primary School. Everyone got involved teaching the primary students lessons on colours, professions, animals and numbers. It was wonderful to see BSB students working in small groups helping children learn English. One BSB student said it was ‘a good feeling’ to teach students and see them progress. The day at the school finished with running, dancing and games on the sports field.
Next stop was Qufu, the birthplace of Confucius. Students had a short shopping trip to buy souvenirs before retiring to their hotel for rest and then dinner. The day finished with an optional performance of traditional Chinese music.
