Lisa Iwanaga, in Year 12, is the Student of the month. She was selected by the Art Department for her talented portfolio and commitment to departmental initiatives and drives.
Lisa has attended BSB for 3 years and in that time she has made her mark in both academics and the arts.
For her IGCSE results, Lisa achieved a clean sweep of 1 A**, 2 A* and 5 A grades. She achieved a Level 9 (equivalent to A**) for her GCSE Art portfolio in Year 11; this is the highest achievement a student can be awarded in the course. She carried the skills developed in her GCSE Art course into the development of her IB Art portfolio this year.
Lisa has demonstrated determination and drive. Her theme this year is Memory and she has explored it in both large scale drawing and acrylic painting. Lisa thinks very carefully before developing a project, she completes contextual research and analyses the work of existing artists to inform her own practice. She then explores, experiments, develops and refines those ideas into a final piece.
In addition to her excellent work in the classroom, Lisa also participated as a CAS student in this year’s Big Draw, helping to set up the puzzle pieces and instructing and demonstrating on the day.
Well done Lisa, we are proud of you!
Ms. Helen Bramley
