Day 3 took us back to the People’s Park in Chengdu. Here the students learned how to play Mahjong. We were given a ‘crash course’ on how to play and in groups of 4 played for over two hours! We drank tea and immersed ourselves in this cultural hotbed.

Following the Mahjong we climbed in to the coaches and headed for Dujiang Yan to visit the famous 2000 year old irrigation project and explore Daosim. Before entering the site we had a duck lunch at Zhong yazi. After lunch the students had great fun performing skits and hiking through the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Finally, as always, a scrumptious dinner at a typical Sichuan restaurant.

Tomorrow we head in to the mountains to visit Muka and Taoping villages that are carved out of the bedrock. More updates to follow tomorrow... Over and out!
