It has been a very busy first month in Music at BSB! Our students, both young and old, are thrilled to be making music together!

  • EYFS students are starting to sing along in the circle and love exploring the percussion instruments. As they have just started, they are a bit shy to join in, but soon will be singing very confidently. Please encourage them to sing at home!
  • All Primary students are really enjoying singing together in class and playing together. They are happy to be using percussion instruments, xylophones and keyboards to practise the concepts.
  • Y5 & 6 students have jumped right in to the instrumental lessons in the Primary Instrumental Programme (PIPs) and are already developing technique on their instruments. The rest of Primary will start the PIPs programme in October.

  • Key Stage 3 students are working on putting together multiple parts of a song. Many of the tasks require playing the melody, the harmony and the bass line.
  • GCSE students have dived right in to analysing music and practical tasks. They are also developing their composition skills and writing music.
  • IB Diploma Music students are working very hard on their coursework! They are also constantly in the practice rooms during breaks - they love to play as an ensemble.

We are continuing to provide Music online for all of our families outside of China. In EYFS and Primary, a new song to learn is posted on Tapestry and Seesaw every week. In Secondary, Music lessons and activities are posted every week on Teams. If you have any questions, please contact me or the Music teacher posting the activities.

Please enjoy some snapshots of the first month of Music!
