I initially studied Law at Leeds Metropolitan University and I then had the opportunity to travel overseas. My first introduction to teaching was working at a British school in Malawi, Africa. I enjoyed this so much that I returned to the UK to complete a PGCE and then worked in the UK for 3 years. I then moved to Egypt, where I worked for 2 years. Saudi Arabia beckoned next, and I spent 8 years in Jeddah. During this time, I became a Head of Year and developed my leadership skills further.
For the last 6 years I have been teaching at BIS HCMC, Vietnam (an NAE School) as a Year 5 and then Year 6 leader. This has been a fantastic opportunity to be part of a large school going through a variety of exciting and positive changes that has seen it grow to 8 form entry. I have also had many opportunities to develop professionally through NAU. I am now very excited to be joining BSB Shunyi as the Assistant Head of Primary.
I have lived internationally for the last 16 years and thoroughly enjoy travelling, exploring new countries and finding out about different cultures. I have two sons who have also travelled with me. My eldest son, Xander, has just returned to the UK to continue his study there. My youngest son, Oakley, will be joining me at BSB and is excited to begin Year 10 this year. In addition, we have our fabulous dog, Merlin, who ensures I get out walking regularly. To relax ,I thoroughly enjoy a good book and am a voracious reader, and I love to cook and bake . I also have recently renewed my love of cycling and I am hoping to be able to cycle more in the near future.
