My name is Scott Dashevsky and this is my first year teaching at BSB. Last year, I taught a Grade 4 class at Sheikh Zayed Private Academy for Boys in Abu Dhabi, UAE. For the two years prior to that, I taught Grade 3 at an international school in Kuwait. As well, I taught ESL in Taiwan to students of many different age levels for 11 years before then.
I earned my Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from The College of New Jersey in 2016. Although it was a tremendous challenge, I am grateful that it has made my passion for teaching and learning grow stronger. I also earned my Professional Teaching Certification from TCNJ in 2014. As well, I hold a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Ryerson University (2001) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba (1991). I look forward to being a facilitator of my students’ learning, helping them to get the best out of their abilities, to achieve their goals, to celebrate their progress, and to become inquiring minds with a thirst for learning.
I am originally from Winnipeg, Canada, which is a small city in the middle of the country. I grew up in Winnipeg and attended St. John’s-Ravenscourt School, which is private, British-style boarding school that is similar to BSB.
I live in Shunyi with my wife Amy Lovestrand and our cute cat Pixie. Amy is also a teacher at BSB in the EAL department. In my spare time, I enjoy watching and playing ice hockey and football (soccer). I hope to join the Beijing International Hockey League in the future.
