I graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in Primary Teaching from the University of Canberra, Australia. With eight years of Primary school teaching experience in Australia, I believe I have grown into a highly competent educator, confidently planning and delivering well-structured, differentiated teaching programmes catering for individual learning needs. In my teaching career, I have acquired a wide range of well-developed professional knowledge and teaching skills. I have taught in classrooms from kindergarten (3 year olds) to Year 6 in Canberra, Australia, including students from the Learning Support Unit and Gifted and Talented classes, where I adjust my pedagogy to address a particularly large range of students’ abilities. These past experiences will enable me to successfully teach at The British School of Beijing, Shunyi.
I am committed to giving children positive, rewarding experiences in their early years of schooling. These positive moments will set children up to be life-long learners. I feel that I have the capabilities to motivate, excite and stimulate the students in my care in a developmentally appropriate and safe environment. I am confident that my varied teaching experiences will be an asset to the British School of Beijing, Shunyi.
I am passionate about gardening and exploring nature. Making compost with kitchen waste, adding healthy soil to gardens and plant pots, growing organic vegetables and herbs all year round, giving them to my neighbours, colleagues and friends, sharing ideas about sustainability; thinking how similar these are to teaching and looking after children always make me so happy. Walking about in natural environments and appreciating their beauty are my other hobbies. They help with maintaining a positive mindset and nurturing my hope for the world. I am married with a young son who will attend BSB Shunyi.
