So, in 2011, I decided to work abroad and joined Compass International School, a Nord Anglia school, in Doha Qatar. Being in Qatar and teaching at an international school was a truly wonderful experience that helped me further deepen my passion for teaching and my understanding of educational pedagogy. Engaging students, making meaningful learning experiences and encouraging independent learning was at the heart of my approach. As well as teaching various ages Reception, Year 1, 2 and 5, I also had a number of leadership roles such as Head of year 5, 6, STEAM co-ordinator and Computing Lead.
My work in 2011 to raise the profile of computing encouraged the school to begin its digital journey. Being passionate about the effective use of technology allowed me to support students, parents and staff to help raise the profile of computing across the school.
I was also one of the first members of STAFF to be involved in the MIT/ STEAM collaboration and successfully created and implemented STEAM projects over the last few years.
Throughout my 7 years at CISD I helped develop various initiatives to enhance learning for the students these ranged from working in our school bilingual programme, developing whole school projects aligned with UNICEF and leading whole school performances during productions and school events.
I am incredibly excited to be joining the BSB Shunyi family with my wife and 2 sons.
Only in Beijing do you get such a wonderful mix of cultures working in harmony together fusing modern and traditional culture. Unique to the city and to the school. Sharing my skills and experience, working with others to help continue to make BSB grow from strength to strength is something I am looking forward to… and to really know what message I want to share, read the first letter of every sentence.
