I have a BA Honours Degree in History and Politics from University College Dublin and a Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) from the National University of Ireland. I am currently studying for a Master Degree in History from the University of Edinburgh. I am also an assistant examiner for the Cambridge IGCSE History exams.
I have been teaching internationally since I graduated in 2004. I have been teaching History and Global Perspectives in an international school in Bangkok, Thailand for 5 years. I was impressed and attracted to The British School of Beijing due to their ethos and philosophy of ‘Be ambitious’. I always tell my students to aim high and to be ambitious as the world needs effective Humanities students to influence, change and develop our future. I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Humanities Department in BSB Shunyi in 2020.
I am passionate about the importance of the Humanities as they teach students about the world we live in. Education is a vital element of young people’s lives and it is a privilege, as a teacher, to help them develop their own skills and passions.
I am originally from Kildare in Ireland but I have spent most of the last 15 years living in Thailand. I really enjoy meeting people from different countries and cultures. I also love tasting food from around the world and I can’t wait to start enjoying some authentic Chinese cuisine. My hobbies and interests range from football, golf and travel, to reading and experiencing new cultures. My family and I decided to move to Beijing to gain a more in depth knowledge of Chinese culture. We are really looking forward to joining the BSB community.
