The Primary FOBISIA team returned on Sunday with a record collection of trophies from a games. 7 trophies out of a maximum 10 was an amazing return from a very talented team across all sports.
The first day opened with over 80 medals in the athletics but due to the High Jump being completed on the final day. Nevertheless, we were quite confident that we were in for a trophy in our position.
The first evening saw the football kick off in cooler temperatures and being completed under flood lights. The new structure saw a 7 a side tournament taking place and this clearly played to our strengths.
The Year 5 Boys scrapped a 3rd place finish whilst the Y5 Girls narrowly lost out on 1st place to claim a 2nd place finish with an unbeaten record. The Year 6 Boys matched them by losing only one game and finishing a strong 2nd place.
The second day was Tee Ball - the weather forecast was not great but our play was. The Y5A Team squeezed a 3rd place finish following only one loss. The Year 6A team were one better and got a 2nd place trophy against very very strong opposition. The Y6B went even better and got a first place trophy going unbeaten.
The last say was the swimming and this was anticipated to be our toughest sport of the four days.
So it proved with some our our strongest swimmers being edged out. The standard was very high. In all we won over 30 medals and took 3 of the 4 tyre relays medals too. The team finished 4th overall only 36 points behind 2nd but with some great individual performances.
Finally the Athletics was completed and with some successful performances in the high jump hopes were high. The final presentation of the week was BSG 1st place in Athletics.
All in all a fantastic and very successful experience. The students certainly deserve the credit for the hard work bring some amazing achievements!
