I came to Guangzhou to teach for a year, earn a bit of money then go off traveling. I very quickly fell in love with the job and city though, and have now been here teaching EAL for over ten years. The majority of that time was spent at Guangwai Wai Xiao – a highly regarded school attached the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies – I was fortunate to be part of great team, and together we helped build an excellent EAL department over the last nine years. However, I felt I had learned all I could at the school and was desperate for a new challenge. It was an extremely easy decision to join the British School as I believe it to be the best school in the city, and I can’t wait to join the team!
Outside of work, my main interest in life is music. I have been teaching myself various musical instruments for many years now, which is probably why I’m still no good at playing any of them, but music really is my passion in life. If I’m not playing or listening to it, I’m usually boring someone by talking it about it. I also love to run and cycle, and am a keen football fan – I support Guangzhou’s less famous, affluent and successful team – Fuli.
