BA(hons), PGCE
After gaining my PGCE in ICT, my passion for both teaching and travelling soon led me to looking abroad for job opportunities. During my career, I have taught mathematics up to GCSE level, and both ICT and computing from Year 4 through to A-level. In my most recent post, based at NCBIS in Cairo as IT Director, I developed the computing curriculum across both the primary and secondary schools and promoted an interdisciplinary approach to IT, ensuring that pupils still benefit from the use of IT in other curricular areas. More recently, I have been focusing on Digital Citizenship, ensuring that pupils not only gain the access that they need to digital technologies across the school, but that they also use these technologies to their best advantage, as well as appropriately and responsibly.
Following previous visits to China and Hong Kong, the decision to move to Guangzhou was not a difficult one. Guangzhou is such an exciting and dynamic city and the opportunity to work at BSG, a premium international school, with like-minded professionals, was one that my wife and I were excited to accept.
I am fortunate in that my hobby is also my job. I have held a passion for computing and technology from an early age and it constantly amazes me how much progress has been made over the last forty years. When I am not working on some IT project or reading up on the latest developments in computing, I like to visit new places, experience different cultures and meet new people. I am also a keen diver and underwater photographer, and like to keep active through running and going to the gym.
