As a Speech and Language Therapist (ST) I possess a Masters Degree and Licensure in Canada. Continuing education is a lifelong joy with additional training completed for supporting children and families who live with ASD, complex needs, swallowing/feeding challenges, high risk infants, working as part of an Interdisciplinary Team, and use of functional assessments to ensure support services are meaningful and applicable to daily living. As an experienced ST working in an education environment I find the opportunity to work with children in the classroom and with Teachers particularly rewarding.
My most treasured career achievements are the notes of thanks and the memories of the many children and families I have worked with. In my “smile file” I still have notes that are over 20 years old I have been honoured to receive from families I have met and supported. To be a part of a student’s success and growth overcoming what may feel like a big obstacle is the very best part of my career life. I am very grateful to be part of such a dynamic and positive Team here at BSG. The excellence and renowned reputation of BSG made this opportunity a perfect fit for my career path. After two years working in Shenzhen, I am excited to continue my life in China; the experience to be in China is nothing less than amazing.
When not working I’m likely found hiking a hill, reading a good book, or searching for a tennis partner. As a “glass half full” personality, I tend to see the positive even on a typhoon type of day. I borrow this perspective in my work life to tackle a work challenge as an opportunity to problem solve a solution and to learn more. Living in China has been a big positive for my “travel bug” and I grab every opportunity possible to explore new places and add another country to my list of places I have visited. I try to add some volunteer work into my travel destinations when I can.
