Year 12 Art Trip June 2015

23 June 2015

“History and Art go quite well together!” Sophie said during our own AS Art trip. It was such an extraordinary and beautiful experience. We, the year 12 Art students were overwhelmed by the heart-warming, friendly smile of Sophie as she introduced us to the history of the Vietnamese war and the value of it, in relation to the artworks at the time. After meeting at the beautiful café, Gạo, outside an old Saigon “French colonial” building, we made our way to the Ho Chi Minh’s Museum of Fine Art to have a look at the artworks of famous artists like Tô Ngọc Vân, Lê Lam, Tạ Tỵ and many more, from period to period within the timeline of art. After that, we were brought to Đồng Khởi Street for 2 contemporary art galleries – “Galerie Quynh” and “địa project”, both were fascinating and inspiring to us all, as they feature young Vietnamese artists with such amazing skill and creativity. We would hope to have another amazing art trip like this one! The trip has really excited us with the thought of coming back after the summer for more Art in A2.
