Celebrating our Community Clubs
In this week’s Primary School assembly we marked the end of term one’s clubs with a celebration of the community clubs that have run this term.
Involvement in a community club allows children to develop many characteristics of our school’s mission, including:
- respect for others who have lives very different to our own
- caring for others and for our environment
- reflection before, during and after the club activities
- Vietnamese perspective
In assembly we heard how some of our students have cooked with young people from the “Little Rose” shelter every week in Community Culinary club with Ms Jo.
Children from the Rang Dong School who have a range of physical disabilities have visited BVIS every week to play with our students and to practise skills such as balancing and throwing in Circus club with Ms Julie.
Our ALEC club learns about the environment with Ms Lan and Ms Jess. They have been learning to create a vertical garden and finding out about environmentally friendly packaging in the “Sunken Garden” café.
In the Rhythm and Books club with Ms Van and Ms Van, our children have shared stories, played musical instruments and done colouring or origami activities with children from Chuyen Biet Rang Dong School.
More Sporting Success!
