The Year 3 and 4 students have been bringing literature to life in English Plus Language lessons participating in Readers Theatre. This simple form of drama is a fun way for children to develop their oral vocabulary language, develop skills of reading aloud, improve reading comprehension and fluency and engage in an authentic co-operative group activity. After performing a variety of playscripts on the stage, the students then developed their own playscripts, working collaboratively in small groups. Together they rehearsed and performed the scripts through a puppet show. They each put on an outstanding performance bringing their characters to life through voice, focusing on expression, pitch, pace, volume and pausing for effect. We love literature and we love puppet theatre!
