ISM Lower Campus Football Cup ‘The Beautiful Game’ once again brought pupils together at The ISM Lower Campus Football Cup as footballers displayed their silky skills and sportsmanship. IMG_1467

It was a beautiful day on Lower Campus as the sun glistened upon a light sea of dew-touched grass. There were big smiles on the faces of the children as they stepped out onto the field with their teammates. Joining us, while battling for football supremacy, were children from Rosinka Campus, who arrived full of energy and eagerness for the tournament ahead.

The competition consisted of a round-robin group stage with the best two teams facing each other in the final. There were four teams in each group, distinguishable by colour (red, yellow, blue and green). Each competition was split into year groups with Year One and Two competing against each other and Year Three and Four pitting their wits against each other. Teams were of mixed-ability and included both boys and girls.

Some children set themselves out to become champions while others just enjoyed the morning and the opportunity to compete with a team in a new sport. Every game was played in the right spirit with each team shaking hands at the end, whether or not they won or lost. The level of sportsmanship displayed spoke volumes about the attitude all the footballers displayed: treating each other with respect and complimenting one another.

While Rosinka Campus achieved success on the pitch, everyone who participated in the competition can be considered a winner. Football teaches children to work closely together, solve problems ‘on the go’, strategise and prioritise whilst being in the thick of the action. Not only has the ISM Lower Campus Cup helped to boost the number of pupils interested in playing football but it has also encouraged more girls to take up the game. This tournament certainly helped all pupils who participated to grow both physically and mentally. Here’s to The ISM Lower Campus Cup!
